At Hardcastle Burton LLP we understand the importance of not only providing good financial advice but also having a sound understanding of the industries our clients operate in. That is why we provide industry specific training to our staff. As part of this our farming team go on farm walks twice a year. Our farm walks offer staff the chance to see first hand what our clients do and gain valuable insight into what matters to them.
For our spring walk we visited one of Syngentas UK breeding sites. We learnt about the plant breeding process and what it takes to get a new variety to market. The time, expertise and investment required is huge – and is an extremely specialised and impressive process. It was also interesting to hear how they come up with the names for the new varieties they develop! We also heard about how seed and crop protection trials are run and saw some of the machinery used as well as the processing lab.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Alec, Duncan, Laurence and Will for being such brilliants hosts. It was very interesting and everyone had an enjoyable morning and learnt something new!
